The Wildlife Trust Countryside Centre at Ramsey Heights is on the site of a Victorian brick and tile works. The Wildlife Trust bought the site in 1976 and a team of volunteers converted the derelict fuel store into an education centre for visiting school children. The building was extended and refurbished with modern facilities including disabled friendly toilets in 2008. Several original features have been retained including the firing trenches of the kiln. Today the building serves as an Interpretative Centre for the Ramsey Heights Nature Reserve, a base for visiting parties of school children and a base of operations for the Great Fen Education and Community Team.
